Session Description: In this session, APIC President, Dr. Tania Bubb, and SHEA President, Dr. Tom Talbot, will discuss future perspectives for infection prevention and control (IPC). This includes outlining the components of successful and effectively resourced IPC programs and detailing challenges for IPC programs, especially due to regulatory requirements. Opportunities for partnerships between APIC and SHEA with other external and public health agencies will be described, as well as, building diversity and resilience in the IPC workforce.

Discuss impact of successful IPC programs and the resources needed to ensure the programs are effective.
Examine the opportunities and potential challenges around impending regulatory guidance on IPC programs.
Discuss opportunities for APIC/SHEA partnership with regulatory and public health entities to advance IP practice and improve health equity.
Highlight opportunities for building resilience and attracting a diverse workforce among IPC programs.
