Infection Prevention Manager

Carmen Murphy, MSN, RN, CIC, FAPIC is the Manager of Infection Prevention at Tampa General Hospital and has been in the department for more than 14 years. She currently chairs the HLD and CLABSI Committees, and participates in the CAUTI, COLO and HYST SSI Task forces. Carmen practiced as a RN in critical care areas for 14 years prior to joining the IP department. She has brought insights on how to introduce or improve infection prevention practices in nursing processes to reduce HAIs and improve patient safety.
She received her MSN in Nursing Leadership and Management in 2019. She earned her CIC in 2015 and Fellow status by the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology in 2022.
Carmen also enjoys cats, thrifting, and spending time with her husband, cats, and grand-littles.
