Senior Infection Preventionist

Lacey Taylor, PhD, MLS(ASCP)cm, CIC is a Senior Infection Preventionist at Providence St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula, MT. In this role, she provides infection prevention support to over 20 outpatient clinics, a critical access hospital and a mid-sized acute care hospital that includes surgical services, behavioral health facilities, and a special pathogens care and isolation unit. Working as a certified Medical Laboratory Scientist for five years, she gained clinical microbiology experience. In 2021, she transitioned to infection prevention and became board-certified in 2022. She joined APIC in 2021 and was recently voted president-elect for the Montana APIC Chapter for 2024. Prior to entering clinical care, Dr. Taylor was adjunct faculty at a community college teaching chemistry and microbiology to nursing students and performed biomedical research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Her work on chlamydial pathogenesis and vaccine development has been published in peer-reviewed journals; she has authored a book chapter and presented at international conferences. Dr. Taylor graduated from University on Montana (UM) with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Integrated Microbiology and Biochemistry through UM and NIH-Graduate Partnership Program.
