Helen S Myers, BSN, RN - Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth (THFW).
Helen Myers acquired her Bachelor's in Nursing degree (BSN) in 2001 from the Harris School of Nursing, Texas Christian University, Fort Worth, Texas. In her nursing career at THFW, Helen worked for 18 years in the Vascular Access Team (VAT), and in 2022 she transitioned to Infection Prevention.
While working as a VAT nurse, Helen participated in two IRB studies as the Lead Investigator. The first study was entitled "DVT Formation In Patients With A PICC Catheter". The results of this study was presented at the Association for Vascular Access (AVA) National Conference in Las Vegas, NV, and the abstract was published in the Journal of the Association for Vascular Access (JAVA) in Winter 2009.
The second study was entitled "Effects of PICC Team Placement of Peripheral IV's". It was published in the Jan/Feb 2020 Journal of Infusion Nursing (INS) under the title "Pain Perception of a Structured Vascular Access Team Approach to Short Peripheral Catheter (SPC) Placement Compared to SPC Placement by Bedside Nurses."
Helen is an active member of APIC and participates in several committees within THFW. She is a strong advocate for evidence-based practices, and continues to learn and grow in the Infection Prevention field.
