Infection Preventionist

Asha Elgonda, MPH (she/her/hers), is an Infection Preventionist at Abbott Northwestern Hospital (part of Allina Health) in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She has been practicing infection prevention at this acute care hospital for two years. She has a special interest in hospital-based clinics/ambulatory care, multi drug-resistant organisms (MDROs), and emergency preparedness. Asha also believes that healthcare access should be equitable for all and strives to uplift diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) practices at her hospital.
Although new to her career in IP, Asha has a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Masters of Public Health in Infectious Disease Epidemiology from the University of Minnesota. She has been an active member of the APIC MN chapter as part of the Education committee and is hoping to become certified in infection control before the end of the year!
