Dr. Jennifer Cowart is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Mayo Clinic Florida since 2016. She is currently a consultant in the Division of Hospital Internal Medicine. She serves as Chair of Quality for Mayo Clinic Florida and as the Medical Director of the Mayo Clinic Florida Operations and Command Center, and previously served as Patient Safety Officer. She has served as physician champion for Hand Hygiene since 2021. Her postgraduate education included internal medicine residency and clinical pharmacology fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine, followed by the Houston VA’s Chief Residency in Quality and Safety (CRQS) program. Dr. Cowart’s specialty interests include hospital medicine and operations, patient and staff safety, quality improvement, and healthcare policy and advocacy.
