Denise Leaptrot, CIC is an IP/Epidemiologist with the CDC’s Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion Surveillance Branch, where she is a member of the NHSN Protocol and Training Team. In this role, she provides consultation and technical assistance regarding surveillance in all areas of NHSN surveillance with focus in SSI and MDRO surveillance and reporting. She has 25+ years combined experience encompassing healthcare epidemiology and infection control/prevention within public & private healthcare arenas. Denise holds a Master’s degree in Administration with focus on Management & Statistics, Specialty in Microbiology, and Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology credentialed by the American College of Clinical Pathology. She is CIC certified for >25 years and is an active member of national & local APIC, as well as state infection control organizations. Denise is a published author of numerous journal articles on Healthcare Associated Infections, transmission and prevention of infections and analysis of NHSN submitted data.
