Samantha Holton, MPHTM, CIC is a Public Health Advisor for CDC’s NHSN as a federal contractor for CACI, Inc. Samantha joined NHSN’s Measure Development and Validation Unit in June 2023. Since then, she and her colleagues developed the 2023 External Validation Toolkit to be used by jurisdictions across the country to aid in validation of facilities’ 2023 HAI data. She also provides support to jurisdictions as they complete their validation activities. Prior to joining NHSN, Samantha worked as an Infection Preventionist for over five years in various acute care hospitals. She believes that quality improvement is data-driven and is grateful to play a role in ensuring HAI data quality. Samantha holds a Bachelor of Science from Auburn University and a Master of Public Health and Tropical Medicine from Tulane University. She is a member of National APIC and serves as Communications and Outreach Chair for her local Greater Atlanta Chapter.
