Shamima Sharmin, MBBS, MSc, MPH, CIC, currently serves as the Director of Infection Prevention and Control at the University of New Mexico Hospital, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She leads initiatives aimed at minimizing HAIs throughout the health system, employing advanced analytics and pioneering strategies. In addition, Shamima has led programs and multidisciplinary teams in the realms of epidemiology, surveillance, and research, contributing significantly to the advancement of healthcare practices.
Shamima earned her Medical Degree from Bangladesh. She later obtained a master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Greenwich, UK, and a second master’s degree in Public Health from California State University Northridge.
