Manager of Infection Prevention and Control

Vera Chu is the Manager of Infection Prevention and Control at the University of Chicago Medical Center. She is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, with a Bachelor of Science in Molecular and Cellular Biology. Vera obtained a Master of Science degree from Rush University and worked as a certified medical laboratory scientist in the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory at UCMC before joining the Infection Prevention team in 2015. During her time at UCM, Vera worked closely with clinical care teams to improve hand hygiene compliance and supported the institution through a global pandemic and local outbreaks. While she loves collaborating with clinical care teams and partners at city and state agencies, Vera’s main focus is guiding the IP team in their initiatives geared towards preventing hospital acquired infections in patients and employees.
