Dilcia Ortega, RN, MSN, MPH, CIC, FAPIC, is a board certified infection preventionist with a vast experience in infection prevention and control. She is the Director of Infection Prevention and Control at NYC Health + Hospital / Woodhull. She has worked in many settings and tackled many challenges ranging from outbreak investigations involving multidrug-resistant organisms in neonatal intensive care unit to anthrax exposure investigation involving a healthcare worker in NYC in 2001.
She has been an infection preventionist since 1994, achieving continual board infection control certification since 1997. She is a member of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) and served as a Board of Directors of the Greater New York Chapter-13 from 2005-2006, as President Elect and Program Chair from 2006 to 2007 and as President from 2007 to 2008.
She has authored articles in peer reviewed publications, presented posters at national conferences, and webinars.
