Session Description: CBIC is developing a certification to recognize professional expertise in infection prevention and control, called “Advanced Leadership Certification in Infection Prevention”, AL-CIP. The APIC Competency Model is serving as the framework for this certification but will focus more on the outer circle of future- oriented competencies such as research, leadership, professional stewardship, IPC operations, etc. The assessment will be by portfolio rather than by computer-based examination. This session will be led by members of the CBIC board of directors and will provide an overview of this certification, due to formally launch in 2025, with time for questions at the end.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the rationale for developing a new certification within infection prevention and control.
  • Understand the format of the certification and differences between CBIC certifications.
  • Understand the application process and how to maintain advanced certification.
