Program Manager- Infection Prevention

Michelle Heine, BS, MT(ASCP), CIC, is the Program Manager of Infection Prevention for two hospitals within the UnityPoint Health System in northeast Iowa. She has a BS in Medical Laboratory Technology from Marquette University. After working as a Laboratory Supervisor for several years, she ventured into the corporate world and then into hospital business development before being introduced to infection prevention thirteen years ago. Heine loves the study of microorganisms and infectious diseases along with the direct involvement with patient care and the daily interactions with hospital staff. For this reason, Michelle has found the field of infection prevention as the perfect fit. She has been CIC board certified since 2013, an active member of the Northeast Iowa APIC Chapter since 2011, serving several roles including Secretary, Education Coordinator and President.
