Lisa Ray is a Registered Nurse with more than 25 years in healthcare, serving in acute care, acute rehabilitative care, and long-term acute care.
For over half of her career, she has been in leadership roles. Lisa has held positions as the Infection Prevention / Employee Health / Education Coordinator Nurse for Kansas Rehabilitation Hospital in Topeka, Kansas, and the Director of Quality, Risk Management, and Infection Prevention for Kansas Rehabilitation Hospital and Select Specialty Long-Term Acute Care Hospital in Topeka, Kansas.
In her current role as an Infection Preventionist for the Stormont Vail Health System she has helped develop and implement a Nurse Driven Urinary Catheter Removal Protocol and assisted with revising the hospital Isolation policy, which included the development of infection flag resolution algorithms. As the subject matter expert on Central Line Associated Bloodstream Infection (CLABSI) surveillance and reduction for Stormont Vail Health, Lisa facilitated a CLABSI Reduction Workgroup. This group developed several CLABSI reduction strategies such as a central line survey day to assess compliance with current CLABSI reduction strategies, a standard process for drawing blood from a central line, targeted nursing education, and a structured chlorhexidine bathing process for all surgical patients and patients with an indwelling device.
Lisa earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing with a minor in Biology from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas and is an active member of the Greater Kansas City APIC Chapter. Currently she is serving on the Board of Directors, Liaison to the Board for the Nominating and Awards Committee, and a member of the 2024 Conference Planning Committee.
