Mary Grace Daria, MSN, BSN, RN, CIC is an Infection Preventionist at Kaiser Permanente who focuses in centralized HAI surveillance. She has 31 years of experience in patient care and clinical quality. Her 14-year success in infection prevention is fueled by a passion for infection prevention, patient safety, and quality.
Mary Grace currently oversees five Northern California acute care facilities where she achieved 100% reliability and compliance with NHSN HAI surveillance for six consecutive years for CMS IQR and CDPH HAI data validation for her assigned facilities, including inpatient rehabilitation. Prior to joining the regional infection prevention team, Mary Grace co-led a CLABSI Prevention Committee, achieving zero CLABSI for 3 consecutive years in PICU and 18 months in NICU. Her championship of the HEROES C. Difficile Infection Prevention regional initiative also reduced facility-wide C. difficile infection by 65%.
Moreover, she has presented the NHSN SSI surveillance protocol to a national audience of physicians, nurses, infection preventions, and additional allied healthcare professionals within Kaiser Permanente. Previously, she served as Infection Prevention & Control Specialist at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital. She is also an actively engaged APIC Sierra Chapter Board Member, contributing to the planning of local annual educational conferences. Mary Grace holds a Master of Science in Nursing, concentrating in Clinical Nurse Leadership from the University of San Francisco and is also board certified in Infection Control.
