Nancy Hailpern serves as APIC Director of Regulatory Affairs. During her 16 years at APIC, she has monitored and advised APIC members on state and federal legislation and regulations related to healthcare quality and infection prevention and control, including public reporting requirements for HAIs and changing infection control quality measures for Medicare payment programs such as Value-Based Purchasing and HAC Reduction Programs.
Nancy began her 40 years working in health policy at the U.S. House of Representatives Subcommittee on Health and the Environment. After leaving Capitol Hill, Nancy worked for the American Cancer Society, where she lobbied Congress on issues including the airline smoking ban, nutrition labeling, insurance coverage for cancer screening, and mammography quality standards. She also worked on nutrition policy at the Center for Science in the Public Interest. Nancy has a BA in Political Science from the University of California, San Diego.
