Angel Mueller is the System Director of Infection Prevention at UnityPoint Health, a health system serving communities throughout Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin. Angel has been an Infection Preventionist since 2009, certified since 2011 and an APIC Fellow since 2017. She has served in multiple leadership positions of the Eastern Iowa APIC Chapter, assists in planning the annual Iowa State Infection Prevention Conference and was the recipient of the 2019 Iowa State Infection Control Practitioner of the Year Award. She was a member of the APIC Professional Development Committee from 2018 through 2023 and served as Chair of the Committee in 2022 and 2023. Through her work on the Professional Development Committee, Angel helped develop the updated APIC IP Competency Model and IP Career Development and Advancement Guide. Angel is passionate about disseminating the competency model and supporting professional development for Infection Preventionists throughout the world.
