Tamara Duncombe, MSc, CIC, is an Epidemiologist with the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) program at Fraser Health in British Columbia, Canada. She has 20 years of experience in Infection Control and Epidemiology and has served in healthcare settings in the Caribbean and Canada. As IPC Coordinator in the Bahamas, she led the IPC chapter for multiple successful Joint Commission International surveys. In her current role, her primary interest is strengthening regional surveillance programs for Multidrug-resistant organisms such as Carbapenemase-producing Enterobacterales. Additionally, she is actively involved in developing surveillance programs for healthcare-associated infections in outpatient and post-acute settings. She has collaborated with Quality and Patient Safety clinicians to improve surveillance for healthcare-associated urinary tract infections (HA-UTIs) by providing training and mentoring to build a community of clinicians with expertise in HA-UTI surveillance. She is a current member of APIC and IPAC Canada.
