I have been working in Infection Prevention and Control since 2010 and began my career in an LTAC, obtaining Certification in Infection Control (CIC) in 2012 then quickly transitioning to Acute Care where I found my passion for preventing Healthcare Associated Infections (HAI). Prior to becoming an IP, I worked for many years in Acute Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist in ICU, CCU, SICU, as well as a Clinical Educator. During COVID in 2020, I was able to be on the Incident Command Council and lead the charge to develop processes and response plans for our facility. We went "back to basics" in 2021 to focus again on preventing HAI with surveillance, implementing only EBP, tracking compliance, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team on a variety of committees.and have had great success keeping our Standardized Infection Ratio (SIR) below threshold for each metric. I received the " Keep Me Safe" Service Standard Award in 2024.I have been an APIC member since 2012 and continue to be amazed at the wealth of knowledge and resources made available to IP to keep the patients safe in our care.
