This session will update attendees on the recent CLABSI trend showing a decrease in the frequency of common CLABSI Gram-positive bacteria while demonstrating an increase in common CLABSI Gram-negative bacteria and fungal infections. Candida spp. has experienced the largest increase in organism occurrence, accounting for one-fifth of reported CLABSIs1. Current literature and associated resources will be reviewed to analyze the contributing factors to this rapid Candida increase. Participants can expect a lively discussion around prevention strategies and solutions to combating this microorganism.
